About John Harman - Author and Novelist


John Harman was born and educated in London, England, and has written for a living all his working life: firstly as an advertising copywriter before turning to journalism. John worked for many years as a journalist in television and in regional newspapers before finally working in London's famous Fleet Street.

Subsequently he owned a conference company, developing courses and conferences in business, finance and the law before taking over a small film company producing information, management training and health and safety films.

Throughout his time in the film industry John wrote literally hundreds of film scripts, many of them dramatised case studies. It was during this time that he also began writing scripts for UK broadcast television - he has had episodes of many popular television series broadcast.

Over the last few years John has become a successful author and novelist, having written more than twenty books and having had four major international financial crime thrillers published by Headline in the UK. He has recently completed a new and exciting novel set in America.

John has lectured extensively on Creative Writing: in the UK at the University of Cambridge's Centre for Continuing Education: in America, at Davis, for the University of California and in Australia for the University of Western Australia, the State Literature Centre and The Fellowship of Australian Writers.

He is a member of the Society of Authors (UK) and of the internationally famous Crime Writers Association. He is also a member of the Australian Society of Authors and the Fellowship of Australian Writers.

John's wife, Abigail, is a professional photographer and they have five children living and working in various locations around the world.
